FAQ
Answers to the most common questions about our accounting and business advisory services.
What is advisory accounting?
It is a model in which the accountant acts as a strategic partner to the business owner, analyzing financial indicators, identifying tax-saving opportunities and taking an active part in business decisions. At Balise, we hold regular meetings with dashboards, KPIs and personalized guidance.
How is Balise different from a traditional accounting firm?
The main difference is the approach. While traditional firms focus on meeting compliance and filing obligations, Balise takes an advisory approach: we analyze your numbers, identify savings opportunities, warn you about risks and take part in your company's strategic decisions.
How does switching accountants work?
Switching is simple and comes at no extra cost. We handle the entire transition: we request the documents from your previous accountant, check your tax compliance status and take over your filing obligations without missing any deadlines. The process takes 15 to 30 days on average, and any outstanding issues left by the previous firm are identified and presented in an initial report.
What are Balise's fees?
Fees vary according to the size of the company, its tax regime, number of employees and the complexity of its operations. We offer tailored plans with all services included. Request a no-obligation quote via WhatsApp and receive a detailed proposal within 24 hours.
How does tax planning work?
We carry out a complete analysis of the company's tax position, simulating scenarios under each Brazilian tax regime (Simples Nacional, Lucro Presumido and Lucro Real). We identify legal tax-saving opportunities, such as the use of tax credits, regional incentives and corporate restructuring. We also follow the transition to the new consumption taxes introduced by the Brazilian Tax Reform (IBS and CBS) and anticipate their impact on your industry and your pricing.
Do you help with opening a company?
Yes! We take care of the whole process: choosing the right activity code (CNAE), defining the best tax regime, registering with the Commercial Registry (Junta Comercial), and obtaining operating licenses and state and municipal tax registrations. We also advise on the best corporate structure for your case.
What is the difference between pró-labore and profit distribution?
Pró-labore is the compensation paid to partners for their work in the company, and it is subject to social security (INSS) and income tax. Profit distribution is the share of the company's results paid out to the partners and, when proper bookkeeping is in place, it is exempt from income tax up to the limit of R$ 50,000 per month. Getting the right balance between the two is one of the decisions with the greatest impact on how much the owner actually takes home — and it is exactly the kind of analysis we do in our regular meetings.
Does Balise handle payroll and HR administration?
Yes. We handle hiring and termination paperwork, payroll, vacations, the 13th-month salary, severance, eSocial and all other labor obligations. We also advise on union classification, benefits and the best type of engagement for each situation (formal employment under the CLT, internship, self-employed contractor or company-to-company contract).
What is Balise's service like? Can I talk directly to the accountant?
What sets us apart is personal, human service. You won't be talking to a call center or waiting days for answers. At Balise, every client has direct access to the accountant in charge, who knows your company and is available to guide you in day-to-day decisions. We work via WhatsApp, email and in-person or online meetings.
Does Balise prepare personal income tax returns (IRPF)?
Yes! In addition to business accounting, we prepare personal income tax returns (IRPF) for our clients and their families. We review every possible legal deduction, check the consistency of the information and advise on supporting documentation, reducing the risk of the return being flagged for review by the tax authority.
How do I send my documents, and what are the monthly deadlines?
You send invoices, bank statements and receipts digitally, via WhatsApp or email, with no need to come to the office. We work with a fixed calendar: the earlier in the month we receive the documents, the more time we have to review them and point out opportunities before taxes fall due. Our team reminds you of every deadline in advance, so you don't have to keep track of dates.
How does accounting for clinics and healthcare professionals work?
Healthcare professionals have specific accounting needs, such as choosing between working as an individual or through a company, hospital-equivalent tax treatment to reduce taxes (when the requirements of the Federal Revenue Service and Anvisa are met) and managing multiple sources of income. At Balise, we understand these particularities and offer specialized advice to doctors, dentists and other healthcare professionals, helping them legally maximize their net earnings.
